By definition it requires freedom to grow, to gain stimulation and to give it, freedom to meet great minds of the past and present, to interact rigorously with their ideas and weigh their values, freedom to explore new horizons and press back the frontiers of learning—in a word, it means academic freedom” (The Idea of a Christian College, pp. 61, 62).
